Comparative Study of Three Step Search and Logarithmic Search Algorithm Used for Motion Estimation in Video Encoder

Motion Estimation is key role in the world of video compression. Compression is a technique for compacting a video data used for easily transmitting over a network and reducing a size for storage. Motion Estimation is computationally complex while video is compressed. This paper describes three step search algorithm and logarithmic search algorithm used for Motion Estimation in video Compression. This paper also presents comparison results of Three Step Search and Logarithm Search Algorithms in terms of CPU tick count. Keywords— Video Compression, Motion Estimation, Three Step Search Algorithm, Logarithmic Search Algorithm.
